OVERCOME Project, led by Canary Wharf Consulting, aims at improving low-qualified job seekers’ and low-skilled workers’ employability skills as well as their psychological capacities, through the use of a tailored self-guide as well as a practice-oriented training package that will be used by vocational counselors when providing career guidance services. The Counselors will be trained to the use of methods that derive from Positive Psychology’s movement and how to transfer the knowledge of essential Employability Skills, in order to transfer the knowledge to Low Skills Adults chances for employability and sustainability.
OVERCOME aspires to deliver an innovative training package which will include hands-on activities, tools and practical exercises to build employability skills and enhance character strengths and favorable aptitudes of low-skilled adults drawing upon the principles of Positive Psychology that have already found successful application in work-related and employment settings. Although several positive psychology projects were designed for young learners and youth, little has been done, applying positive psychology to low-skilled adults.
OVERCOME Project is innovative, as it attempts to combine Positive Psychology with basic Employability Skills development. Positive Psychology employs an evidence-based practice, involving valid measures and evidence-based interventions, so the development of meaningful training programs is based upon these points of reference.

Promote and raise awareness regarding the professional competencies of low-skilled adults workers
Increase competencies of Counselors
Increase competencies of low-skilled adults
Develop resources with quality material for low-skilled adults

In addition, the toolkit will include a section on employability and upskilling pathways.
To address the above objectives, the consortium will develop the following 4 Intellectual Outputs (IOs):
IO1: A toolkit for low-skilled adults to develop their psychological capital
IO2: Training course for coaches/adult educators/career counselors
IO3: Training course for low-skilled adults on employability and psychological capital
IO4: An online learning space with Open Educational Resources (OERs)
